Podstine - the first Korčula climbing area in an attractive location above the Vela Luka bay
Above Vela Luka, near the road that leads to Vela Spila cave (Big Cave), there is the first
arranged climbing site on the island of Korčula.
Although it is not of great height, you can find 8 directions on the climbing rock, while some more are
planned to be set as well. You can approach the climbing site either from the road (100 m) or by
walking path that starts in Vela Luka. Approach from the road to Vela Spila cave (Big Cave) is marked
by a signboard and mountaineering red and white marks. Directions are of 8 to 9 metres length,
difficulty level 5a to 6a+ (as climbing site has just been set up recently, levels might be revised). The
rock is oriented southwards, so during summer months it is recommended to climb either in early
morning or early evening. While resting between directions or upon reaching the top you can enjoy
in a beautiful view of Vela Luka bay and the surroundings.
